BASCO, Batanes—Typhoon Ferdie’s strong winds and rains damaged P225 million worth of homes and government facilities in the Batanes islands on Sept. 14, said Charles Ibanes, head of the Batanes Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, on Friday. Batan island, which hosts the municipalities of Basco, Mahatao, Ivana and Uyugan, drew damages to government buildings estimated at P83 million and P4.5 million in wrecked roads and bridges. The typhoon also damaged waterworks estimated to be worth P12.4 million, power facilities P20 million, and houses P40 million.
