In what was a highly entertaining and dramatic game, Manchester City thought they had won the clash in injury time when Raheem Sterling fired home from Sergio Aguero’s pass. But a video assistant referee (VAR) review deemed Aguero to be offside in the build-up and the goal was disallowed. It meant the match ended 4-4 on aggregate with Tottenham advancing to the Champions League’s semi-finals on away goals. But the Brazilian only offered a two-word response: “F**k VAR.” According to the Manchester Evening News, Fernadinho was then seen slamming a door on his way out. Bernardo Silva levelled and City went ahead on the night on 25 minutes when Sterling grabbed a second of his own.
