The audience was enthralled by his one-hour talk and the majority of their questions was centred on the state of English proficiency in Malaysia. He also said that the current state of English proficiency among SPM leavers was worrying. “Efforts to improve English proficiency should not be centred on the urban population alone, but should include those in the rural areas too,” he added.
