‘Engineers critical to attaining sustainable economic development’

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has urged government at all levels to recognise the role of engineers in attaining sustainable economy development. This is coming as experts have tasked women engineers to be in the forefront of building engineering campaigns. Speaking at the maiden edition of Olutunmbi Joanna Maduka Annual Lecture (OMAL Series)/77 Birthday and 60th anniversary of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Maduka said technology was needed in a modern world for economic growth. Her words: “If you want growth, development and advancement in technology, you cannot involve engineers and this is what they are preaching to our different governments. “Recently, we found three persons who are holding mega jobs but are not engineers.
