‘Elitist’ behaviour spoils Cape derby

The annual rugby derby between Western Cape schools Bishops College and Wynberg Boys’ High reportedly turned sour after pupils from Bishops allegedly displayed ‘elitist’ behaviour after one of the matches. The match was part of the Wynberg Boys’ High School derby series, held at Bishops College. One parent told News24 that her 13-year-old son had coins thrown at him and estimated around 50 R2 coins were chucked at Wynberg pupils. “My son goes to a well-known, diverse government boys high school in Cape Town. This is something that has happened in previous years too.”An internal investigation by Bishops into the matter is under way.
