Olympic weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is calling on her fellow athletes not to give up on their dreams as the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic brought the sports world to a standstill. “To all athletes, stay safe, train safe and follow the law and what the government advises us to do — it’s for our own protection but don’t quit on your dreams, don’t stop training,” Diaz, 29, told The Manila Times in an online interview. Diaz won silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics and gold in the 2018 Asian Games. Athletes don’t stop — we don’t give up regardless of the situation,” she said. I will do everything to qualify [for the Games] with the help of Team HD (Hidilyn Diaz).”When not training, Diaz turns to online movies, books and social media for entertainment.
