more-inThe Delhi High Court has asked the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) not to finalise the tender process with regard to construction of an automated multilevel car parking structure behind the posh Defence Colony Market in the Capital. The petition, filed by Defence Colony resident Rajeev Suri, has alleged that the multilevel parking is proposed to be constructed by taking land from a children’s park and an arterial road named Varun Marg. The court took on record the assurance given by the counsel appearing for the SDMC that it will not finalise the tender process for the automated multilevel parking facility till the next date of hearing on May 3. The lawyer said the immediate cause of action for filing the petition is the decision of the SDMC to float a tender for construction, operation and maintenance of the automated multilevel parking facility. He said the proposal was withdrawn after a petition was moved at the High Court.
