‘Does this save lives?’ Concerns raised about Alberta overdose response app


The Digital Overdose Response System, or DORS, app was brought in last summer, nine months after the United Conservative government axed a similar phone-based program. The app alerts emergency responders if a person using substances becomes unresponsive to a pre-set timer. It’s similar to British Columbia’s Lifeguard app. He said he encountered a handful of glitches while installing the app and said the user interface was poorly executed. He said the Lifeguard app has had more than 7,800 registered users since May 2020.
