A pedestrian-crossing connecting two key intersections — Grand Southern Trunk (GST) Road and its service lane and GST Road and Nellikuppam Salai — in Guduvanchery is of little use to pedestrians. Motorists coming from Urapakkam and Guduvanchery take a u-turn at the intersection of GST Road and its service lane, without paying any attention to the pedestrian signal. Similarly, motorists coming from Nellikuppam Salai take a free left and right, towards Potheri and Urapakkam, at the intersection of GST Road and Nellikuppam Salai, ignorning the pedestrian signal. S. Raghavan, a resident of Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, Guduvanchery, says one traffic police personnel should be deployed at each of the intersections to ensure pedestrains have easy movement. Repeated calls to the authorities concerned evoked no response.
