BAGUIO CITY: Mayor Benjamin Magalong has denied accusations that the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic has been a “money-making” venture for the local government and its officers. The mayor said no one in the city government earns from the tests being conducted either by the government or any private company as claimed. “Testing was made a border requirement to ensure that all those coming into the city are cleared of the virus. We are not connected to these providers, and there is no way we are profiting from them,” Magalong said in a statement. She said the city does not apply for claims for severe cases, confined in hospitals, and for patients on home isolation.
