As bad as my situation was in Cairo, what’s happening in Iran is 10 times worse. You don’t even get a trial or get a chance to defend yourself, and journalists can’t really report what’s happening to you. Do you see any connection between the government in Iran and other governments that have jailed Canadians? These sanctions are increasingly important and should be financial sanctions, sanctions on travelling. We know there’s more than 1,000 Canadians jailed abroad.
