Minister Firhad Hakim Minister Firhad HakimChief Minister Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly lashed out at the Centre for slashing funds for key schemes and had even written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about a year ago. “The present government also cleared the electricity bills of Rs 848 crore owed to all the civic bodies,” Hakim said. In response to a question in the Assembly, Hakim said that the Centre used to “contribute a major share for projects such as Nirmal Bangla Housing Scheme”. The Centre used to bear Rs 4,000 of this cost while the rest of the money was contributed by the state government and the local civic body. He said that the cost of developing one unit under the Nirmal Bangla Housing project was Rs 13,312.
