Functionally, complaining about ‘cancel culture’ is nothing more than complaints about “political correctness” dressed up in a stylish new hat. When people admit they did something wrong, it’s not called ‘cancel culture’ even if it otherwise fits the definition. That’s why the critics of ‘cancel culture’ tend to be so vague about what precisely is being cancelled, and who’s doing it.
