Search for fresh centres goes onThe “blockade” on a migrant accommodation centre is over – but protests about the centre in Inch, west of Ennis, Co Clare, will continue. Yesterday, government ministers welcomed the ending of the picket at the centre which attracted widespread international headlines over the past week. A report in the Sunday Independent showed that several public buildings ruled out as unsuitable for migrant accommodation earlier in the process were now also being reconsidered. News yesterday that the “blockade” at House Hotel had ended was welcomed by the junior minister responsible, Joe O’Brien, of the Green Party. He said he respected citizens’ right to protest but stressed that such protests must not intimidate others.
