‘Abbay II’: ESL’s Largest Vessel Makes Inaugural Cargo Delivery – Ethiopian Monitor

ADDIS ABABA – ‘Abbay II’, the nation’s largest bulk vessel, completed its median cargo delivery months after the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) announced its acquisition. The national flag carrier brought in the bulk vessel last July to respond to the growing demand for cargo transport. ‘Our first-ever largest bulk carrier Abbay II’ docked at Djibouti Port for the first time carrying Ethiopian cargo after she registered and started sailing under the flag of Ethiopia, per ESL. ‘Abbay II’ can carry 63,229 tons of cargo per trip, making it the biggest of all the 10 ships currently owned by Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics. ESL – the only national Flag carrier in Africa – provides shipping services to 345 international ports.
