Harris, 22, was promoted to the advanced single-A Dunedin Blue Jays last week after beginning the campaign with the single-A Lansing Lugnuts. Even with that, his combined earned run average through 17 starts at his two stops is 2.61, to go with an 8-3 record. They moved him from the first-base side of the rubber to the third-base side, which, according to the Blue Jays folks, makes him more deceptive, particularly for right-handed batters. At one point with Lansing, Harris went six straight games — totalling 32 innings — without giving up an earned run, highlighted by back-to-back, seven-inning, 11-strikeout outings. Last season, opposing batters hit .318 off of Harris with Vancouver.
