[Reality Check] 57 black men, 3 women gunned down by U.S. police in 2018 alone

57 black men across the United States and three black women have been shot and killed by law enforcement officers in 2018 alone, according to The Washington Post database of police shootings. The circumstances surrounding the deaths of these black people vary across the board yet and still, this is a disturbing reality. A week prior, 60-year-old Edward Van McCrae was killed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. On March 30, 39-year-old Rodney Toler was shot in a vehicle by the police on the streets of Charleston, West Virginia. In 2015, The Washington Post began tracking fatal shootings caused by police officers in the United States.
