Ethiopia-born actress, Ruth Negga, missed out on the Oscar award for the ‘Actress in a Leading Role,’ category at the just ended 89th Academy Awards that took place in Hollywood over the weekend. Her role in the widely-acclaimed movie has won her other nominations aside the Academy Award for Best Actress. Other nominations include the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead, Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress, and a BAFTA Rising Star Award. The film which was released in the United States last year was directed by Jeff Nichols who also wrote the screenplay.
