$1 billion housing pitch unveiled by Prime Minister John KeyQ&A Prime Minister tells ONE News Political Editor Corin Dann that rising housing prices inevitably affect minorities. Prime Minister John Key has revealed a $1 billion infrastructure spend-up to speed up the construction of tens of thousands of new homes. "Today's announcement of a $1 billion housing infrastructure fund will ensure more houses are built faster in the areas where they are needed most," Key said in speech notes. The money will be used for new roads and water infrastructure to support new housing developments where financing is a constraint. "We want more houses built so first home buyers can get a foot on the property ladder, so people who work hard can reward themselves with a place they are proud to call home."
