Massa announces new freeze on fuel tax hike after conflict with oil companies
Oil companies confirmed to the Herald that there would be a rise in gas prices following the end of a price freeze agreement, which had been enacted following the August 13 primaries and was in place until October 31. Argentine students discover international opportunities at ‘Study in Europe’ fair
Over 7,000 young Argentines who dream of studying in Europe took a step towards their goal by visiting the Study in Europe fair at the Buenos Aires Sheraton on Monday afternoon. Financed by Erasmus+, the international mobility scheme allows students studying at Argentine universities to spend time studying at European universities that have institutional agreements with their home universities. Oil and gas union to strike in support of Massa fuel shortage ultimatum
Argentine oil and gas trade unionists in the Neuquén basin have vowed to go on strike on Wednesday from 6 a.m. in support of Economy Minister Sergio Massa’s ultimatum to ban oil exports if the industry fails to redress supply shortages by Tuesday night. Massa, who is also the ruling coalition’s presidential candidate, said on Sunday that oil companies would be forbidden from exporting oil from Wednesday onwards unless the fuel shortages that have hamstrung motorists across the country are resolved by Tuesday night. “We unconditionally back the export ban announced by Massa for midnight on Tuesday,” the Private Oil Workers’ Union wrote in a statement posted to social media late Sunday. “It makes no sense that [the industry] is constantly talking about record production and at the same time there’s no gas,” they wrote. On Friday, Energy Secretary Flavia Royón reached an agreement with energy companies for Argentina to import 10 tanker ships of fuel to ease shortages.

Consultants forecast agricultural exports will grow over US$13 bn in 2024

If these estimated figures become real, however, foreign exchange generated by agricultural exports in 2024 will be below what was achieved in 2022 and 2021 (US$35,4 and US$33,6 billion, respectively).

Amid fuel shortage, Massa vows to bar oil exports from Wednesday
