Through multiple interviews with stakeholders in outdoor air quality monitoring, IDTechEx has learned that infrastructure and calibration requirements create a barrier to continued adoption in the smart city market. In most instances, local authority approaches to air quality monitoring are driven by legal requirements, which currently only require periodic measurements easily taken using the existing installed equipment. As such, air quality sensor data is increasingly included in the metrics collected by battery-powered fleets of delivery vans, e-scooters, buses, and trains. Gas sensor technology continues to shrinkThe third and final driver towards mobile air quality monitoring is the continuous shrinking of gas sensor technology. OutlookTo summarize, mobile air quality monitoring solutions reduce the infrastructure demands of fixed solutions while also creating more scope for business model innovation.

Oil companies confirmed to the Herald that there would be a rise in gas prices following the end of a price freeze agreement, which had been enacted following the August 13 primaries and was in place until October 31. Different parts of the country experienced fuel shortages at the end of last week, which oil companies said was due to overdemand. On Saturday, companies had promised to normalize fuel supply, but the situation was still ongoing Tuesday. Massa announced the halt on the fuel tax raise via a pre-recorded message published Wednesday morning, in which he also took aim at oil companies. He also accused them of “benefitting from a “differential export exchange rate” and “tax cuts for imports destined to production.”“It is my understanding that, following oil companies’ guarantee to supply enough fuel, the critical situation is over,” Massa said.

Over 7,000 young Argentines who dream of studying in Europe took a step towards their goal by visiting the Study in Europe fair at the Buenos Aires Sheraton on Monday afternoon. Financed by Erasmus+, the international mobility scheme allows students studying at Argentine universities to spend time studying at European universities that have institutional agreements with their home universities. In Erasmus Mundus’s joint master’s programs, students spread their studies between at least three universities in different member states. In fact, 75% of Erasmus Mundus scholarships have to be assigned to students from countries outside the EU, she added. “We’re interested in receiving international students because science itself is international.”

Argentine oil and gas trade unionists in the Neuquén basin have vowed to go on strike on Wednesday from 6 a.m. in support of Economy Minister Sergio Massa’s ultimatum to ban oil exports if the industry fails to redress supply shortages by Tuesday night. Massa, who is also the ruling coalition’s presidential candidate, said on Sunday that oil companies would be forbidden from exporting oil from Wednesday onwards unless the fuel shortages that have hamstrung motorists across the country are resolved by Tuesday night. “We unconditionally back the export ban announced by Massa for midnight on Tuesday,” the Private Oil Workers’ Union wrote in a statement posted to social media late Sunday. “It makes no sense that [the industry] is constantly talking about record production and at the same time there’s no gas,” they wrote. On Friday, Energy Secretary Flavia Royón reached an agreement with energy companies for Argentina to import 10 tanker ships of fuel to ease shortages.

Some private studies indicate that sector exports could grow by over US$13 billion next year. A better climate will allow for a higher volume of exports of the main grains and their by-products. A report from Fundación Capital estimated that agricultural exports will total over US$32 billion next year. About US$13,2 billion of the US$19,3 billion lost in 2023 due to the severe drought would be recovered if the climate risk diminishes,” the study estimated, predicting agricultural exports will amount to around US$32,6 billion in 2024. If these estimated figures become real, however, foreign exchange generated by agricultural exports in 2024 will be below what was achieved in 2022 and 2021 (US$35,4 and US$33,6 billion, respectively).

Following several days of fuel shortages, Economy Minister and presidential candidate Sergio Massa warned oil companies that export ships will be barred from leaving the country if the supply chain doesn’t return to normal. “If the fuel shortage is not solved by Tuesday midnight, [oil companies] won’t be able to send off a single export ship Wednesday,” he said during a press conference on Sunday noon. “At some point, there were some that speculated that the electoral result would cause a devaluation, so they may have saved up [their fuel],” Massa said. In that context, oil companies reached an agreement with the Economy Ministry and established a price freeze until October 31. The government announced it would import 10 tanker ships of fuel to avoid supply shortages.

Argentina will import 10 tanker ships of fuel to avoid supply shortages after a spike in demand around the elections and rising consumption in 2023 overall. The agreement was made during a meeting between Energy Secretary Flavia Royón and the leaders of major energy companies. Demand for fuel has increased recently, driven by increased demand from tourism over the mid-October long weekend and greater activity in the agricultural sector. “The root of the problem is that last weekend demand was 15% higher compared to the same weekend of the previous year; this led to an emptying of the companies fuel stocks. In addition to meeting with the heads of energy companies, Royón also met with representatives of gas station unions, who expressed their concern regarding the shortages in several parts of the country.

Oil companies operating in Argentina said Saturday that fuel supply will “normalize in the upcoming days” after several parts of the country experienced shortages. The second was a higher-than-usual dependence on fuel imports due to scheduled shutdowns at some refineries. The third event was a situation of overdemand which, according to the companies, was caused by a shortage expectation. “Argentina’s fuel production and supply infrastructure is robust,” the communiqué said. The government announced it would import 10 tanker ships of fuel to avoid supply shortages.

“He didn’t ask me for anything,” said Milei of the negotiations with Macri, Bullrich and hardline PRO converts, who have a new common feature: they are politically homeless. What does Bullrich offer Milei? We’re not sure whether freedom is advancing, but it’s certainly getting together for “change.”What does Bullrich offer Milei? Other PRO leaders started to follow the Macri-Bullrich strategy, joining them in dribs and drabs. Milei is alone, and so he is partnering with the worst in politics.”Originally published in Ambito.com / Translated by Agustín Mango
