›While a federal bill seeking strict voting requirements sought by former President Trump has stalled in the Senate, some Republican-led states are pressing ahead with their own measures that could require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote. In Michigan, supporters of voter citizenship documentation submitted 750,000 petition signatures to get a constitutional amendment on the November ballot. Meanwhile, state-level bills passed in South Dakota and Utah would create a two-tier voting system, where people who provide citizenship documentation could vote in all elections, while those who don't could only vote in federal elections. The players President Donald Trump The former president who has long pushed for strict voting requirements, including proof of citizenship, despite a lack of evidence of widespread non-citizen voting. Federal law already prohibits noncitizens from voting in U.S. elections, with violators subject to fines, imprisonment and potential deportation. The federal Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or SAVE America Act, would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote. AdvertisementThe federal bill also would require a photo identification to cast a ballot, which some states already mandate. Those who don’t could vote only in federal elections for president, U.S. Senate and U.S. House. Arizona implemented its system after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2013 that the state could not require citizenship documentation for federal elections.

Yet this mailer/text falsely – with photos of 1960s African-American Civil Rights protesters/marchers – falsely claiming that “Richmond politicians are trying to take our districts away.” Can you get any more inflammatory, not to mention dishonest and offensive, than that? Also, backing this amendment are Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA03), Rep. Jennifer McClellan (D-VA04), and MANY other African Americans. So basically, what this mailer/text is arguing is that leading U.S and Virginia African-Americans are backing an amendment that will “take [African-American] districts away,” “silence” African-Americans’ voices, dishonor African-Americans’ ancestors, etc??? Also consider that the campaign against this amendment is OVERWHELMINGLY being pushed by white Republicans, who apparently now are claiming to speak for African-Americans. Anyway, the bottom line is that this effort is dishonest, offensive, and if there’s any justice in the world will backfire BIG TIME.

Generally speaking, the twice-a-year daylight saving time clock changes are unpopular. In 2018, California voters passed Proposition 7, allowing the state to adopt permanent daylight saving time if federal law permits. AdvertisementMany lawmakers support permanent daylight saving time because it gives people later sunsets. In 1942, Congress made daylight saving time permanent year-round to conserve fuel during World War II. In 1945, that measure was repealed, and states were allowed to choose how they would observe daylight saving and standard time.

There’s actually only one cycle you ever need to use on your washing machine. Have you ever wondered exactly how dirty your laundry needs to be to justify using your washing machine’s “heavy duty” cycle? Advertisement Advertisement“All of those cycles [on the washing machine] exist because they used to exist,” he said. You don’t need them anymore, but too many people want to buy a machine and they’re like, ‘My mom’s machine has “whitest whites.”’ If I could build a washing machine, it would just have one button — you’d just push it, and it’d be warm water and ‘express’ cycle and that’s it.”Another (perhaps obvious) advantage of only using the “express” cycle? “The express cycle is 30 minutes or less, so you can do several loads of laundry quickly,” Richardson said.

As the war in Iran sends global fuel prices soaring, the U.S. Department of Justice has released a legal opinion claiming that President Trump has the authority to override California laws and regulations that have blocked a controversial offshore oil operation by invoking the Defense Production Act. It was used by President Biden to help respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Trump invoked the act last March to ramp up domestic mineral production. But the company has spent months courting the Trump administration for increased support of its project, especially after several legal setbacks, increasingly cumbersome state laws and ongoing financial losses have left its future in limbo. “The Trump Administration’s desire to put oil and gas interests over our communities and a clean environment continues unabated,” the statement said. “They’re the first test of if the president can override state laws.
