After the match, Jones reiterated his willingness to play anywhere on the pitch to help his side. We scored three very good goals and a clean sheet as well, that’s all you can ask for. We’ve had lads that have joined, we’ve had lads that have left. Jones said they squad are taking things match by match and not trying to get ahead of themselves in those competitions. I obviously play as a fan as well and I know what the fans expect.

Following two games in five days on a heavy Fir Park surface, it appeared some of Askou’s players were feeling the effects. However, the boss is confident he can rely on his squad’s strength in depth as they head into a busy run of fixtures. “It could and maybe should have been under a lot more control at half-time than it was,” Askou said. “The first goal was a handball for me, I don’t know why the referee’s not given it straight away. Leven added: “He’s added experience, knowledge of the league and another person to bounce ideas off — he’s been brilliant since he came in.”

Reform UK’s head of policy, Zia Yusuf, said it is “obviously not true” that Nigel Farage is “soft on Russia” and a “bit pro-Putin”. Put to Mr Yusuf on Sky News’s Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme that Sir Keir said on Saturday – and the Foreign Secretary had reinforced – that they thought Nigel Farage is “soft on Russia”, and a “bit pro-Putin”, Mr Yusuf said: “That’s obviously not true. He added: “It’s, I’d argue, the primary reason why Reform has led 200 opinion polls in a row. And it’s a really concerning thing.”Mr Yusuf said it is also incorrect that Mr Farage has changed his mind on the two-child benefit cap. “The second point, on the pubs policy: what we wanted to do was make sure that this was fully funded.

NEARLY a third of serial knife thugs are not jailed even after their FOURTH conviction for carrying a blade, The Sun on Sunday can reveal. The “slap on the wrist” sentences come despite a “two-strike” rule, which is supposed to guarantee custody for would-be robbers, thieves and violent attackers caught carrying weapons more than once. It is despite the number of serial knife offenders with three or more previous convictions skyrocketing by 89 per cent in a decade, from 666 to 1,261. And in another troubling knife incident, two students, 12 and 13, were stabbed at a secondary school in Brent, North West London. It means the proportion of serial knife offenders sent to prison in the 12 months to last June is the lowest it has been since 2014-15.

‘True courage often comes from having no other choice’ … firefighters work at the site of a Russian missile strike in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on 13 January. Is it possible to acquire courage if you don’t have it? You don’t need courage if you’re not afraid, so don’t wait for the fear to go before you try. I’d gathered in military training a sort of controlled “courage” in the form of “courage within boundaries”. The student thought about it and wrote this: “Courage, is this …” then left the exam hall.

Liverpool’s big 3-nil win over Brighton in the FA Cup is a much needed result given Liverpool’s topsy turvy season. To a man, Liverpool absolutely took it Fabian Hurzeler’s charges in what felt like a truly lopsided affair. Arne Slot’s comments after the match were quite effusive, if characteristically blunt, in relation to the match. “It’s very nice to have [Salah] on the scoresheet again and him having an assist. Liverpool look like they have an understanding on offense and, while absolutely imperfect, have managed to not look a complete farce at the back despite what can charitably be called a crisis at right-back.
