Pegasus spyware can be used to secretly extract messages and photos, record calls and activate microphones in smartphones. Pegasus allows NSO clients to infect smartphones with hidden software that can extract messages and photos, record calls and secretly activate microphones. Lawyers for WhatsApp recently told the US court that NSO has “only produced 17 internal documents of its own”. Both Israel and NSO anticipated expansive requests from WhatsApp for sensitive internal company files, such as lists of its customers. The order itself was also made secret; a gag order has prevented the government’s actions being made public in Israel.

Prince Harry’s marathon quest against Britain’s tabloids produced a “monumental victory” in the courts, he said in a TV interview that will air Thursday, but it was a “central piece” of the bitter rift between him and other members of the British royal family. Speaking for the first time since winning hundreds of thousand of pounds in damages from Mirror Group Newspapers over his claims that it had wrongfully invaded his privacy, Harry, 39, said that he had been vindicated by the judge’s ruling, even if the price to his relations with his family was high. “I’ve made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done,” Harry said in excerpts released by ITV News, part of an hourlong documentary about the phone-hacking scandal. But he added, “It would be nice if we, you know, did it as a family.”Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, did not explain exactly how his legal battle had further ruptured relations with his father or brother, Prince William. In his memoir, “Spare,” he attributed the rift to multiple causes, including his family’s treatment of his wife, Meghan Markle, a biracial American former actress.

“Poverty is violent, and constantly sweeping folks does nothing to solve homelessness,” said Lukas Illa, an organizer with San Francisco’s Coalition on Homelessness. Last week, San Francisco Mayor London Breed said the city would begin issuing citations and other penalties to people who refuse offers of shelter. “Those citations can get progressive, and they could lead to a misdemeanor if people refuse services,” she said. “We are going to make them so uncomfortable on the streets of San Francisco that they have to take our offer. According to a 2022 National League of Cities study, California can only offer year-round beds to about 21% of its unhoused residents.

Fans of the American XL Bully dog have turned their attention to a new breed in a bid to circumvent new rules across the UK. Only those with the proper documentation are allowed to own an XL bully while strict rules are in place to limit their movement. But there is no such ban on owning the smaller 'pocket bully', a mix of an American Bully and Patterdale terrier. Breaking the rules on XL bully ownership in Scotland can lead to a £5,000 fine or even six months in prison. It comes as a 40-year-old man was charged after a women was killed by two XL Bullies in February.

THE Archbishop of York called for the removal of the two-child benefit cap on Tuesday, on the same day as seven Labour MPs were suspended from the party for voting for the limit to be scrapped immediately. Sir Keir Starmer has acknowledged that there is strong feeling in the Labour Party on the issue, but the Government’s position is to wait for the report from a newly created child poverty taskforce before making a commitment to a course of action. On Tuesday, the SNP tabled an amendment which would commit the Government to immediately removing the cap. It received cross-party support, including from the Green Party and the former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Read more on this story in Paul Vallely’s column here

Adam Peaty’s recent performance at the GB trials will “bolster his confidence and belief” to achieve three gold medals in consecutive games, according to Loughborough University’s Professor David Fletcher. “He's won every gold medal, every major championship, and he’s achieved multiple world records. “There will be those who doubt whether he can achieve a third gold medal in a row. “Once you're back on track with the training, you're enjoying the training more, you know more about why you're doing it. Rain and wind have appeared to dominate - although weather forecasters are actually claiming it's been a fairly typical season. Reports are now suggesting a heatwave is heading for the UK with an 'Azores High' bringing temperatures of 31C in parts of the country. But, as ever, Scots will look on with scepticism with the best weather likely to be confined to the south-east of England. And there is nothing in the BBC Weather report to suggest a heatwave is heading this way. And as the week progresses, "temperatures will remain above average in many areas but closer to the seasonal average in the north, particularly Scotland".
