Back in North Carolina, they were genuinely thrilled to have Celtic and Man City in town. There were Honduras journos in Washington asking Brendan Rodgers a ton of questions about there hero, but it was another level in North Carolina. One person was killed and another injured after a firework factory exploded in Bulgaria. The explosion took place on Thursday evening in the town of Elin Pelin near the capital, Sofia, sending mushroom clouds into the evening sky, some flecked with the reds and whites of exploding fireworks. The interior minister, Kalin Stoyanov, said a 49-year-old man died of injuries sustained in the fire and his 20-year-old daughter was in critical condition in hospital. The person suspected of igniting Molotov cocktails under a UC Berkeley police vehicle last month, as protests over the war in Gaza roiled campuses across the nation, has been indicted by a federal grand jury. Casey Robert Goonan, 34, now faces formal charges after the grand jury this week signaled there was enough evidence to prosecute. The federal indictment, issued Tuesday, includes two counts of arson and one count of possession of an unregistered firearm. Goonan, who is currently in custody at Santa Rita Jail, faces serious prison time and hefty fines if found guilty. They initially faced state charges in Alameda County before federal prosecutors took over the case.

The UK is considering developing long-range missiles that can take out Russian nuclear weapons launched from inside of its territory following Russian ruler Vladimir Putin’s claims that he may be prepared to use them, The Times writes. Additionally, an internal Ukrainian Defense Ministry document seen by The Times warned that Putin’s nuclear strategy poses a “very serious threat” and that he is “increasingly willing to take risks” if he considers it in his interests. The missiles will allegedly have the capability to travel from as far as Berlin to Moscow if Putin decides to launch tactical nuclear weapons. Currently, the US and Germany plan to deploy long-range US missiles – the Tomahawk cruise, SM-6, and hypersonic missiles – to Germany from 2026 for the first time since the Cold War. Boris Pistorius, the German defense minister, said the idea behind this plan was to encourage European countries to invest in producing such missiles.
