Prevalence of corruption in Kenya increased in 2023, a new report published by Transparency International shows. The 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index shows that Kenya dropped from 32 to 31 points. The report observed that the collapse of such high-profile cases has eroded public confidence in ODPP's ability to uphold the rule of law and tame corruption. The report indicates that Kenya's score of 31 fell below the Sub-Saharan average score of 33 and the global average score of 43. Uganda maintained a score of 26 while Burundi got 20 points compared to the 17 it secured in 2022.
