Starmer confirmed the UK would be sending HMS Dragon, one of the Royal Navy’s six Type 45 air defence destroyers. We will launch missiles at Cyprus with such intensity that the Americans will be forced to leave the island,” Iranian media reported. Photograph: Samuel Corum/Sipa/BloombergUS president Donald Trump has said the US-Israel attack on Iran was pre-emptive and has backed surviving officials inside the Tehran regime to assume leadership in the country. In a joint press appearance with German chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump said the “lunatics” in Tehran “were going to attack first”. Asked about the future leadership of Iran, Trump said the “leader of the pack is gone”, a nod to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This meant meant long detours for Iran-bound US aircraft, which could not use Diego Garcia, one of the islands, as a base.

Mr Sanchez, widely regarded as Europe's last major progressive leader, has called the US and Israeli attacks on Iran an "unjustifiable" and "dangerous" military intervention. It was not clear how Mr Trump would have cut off trade with Spain, which is a member of the European Union. "In short, the position of the government of Spain can be summarised in four words," Mr Sanchez said. "We could just fly in and use it," Mr Trump said. However, Mr Trump maintains that the court allows him to instead impose full-scale embargoes on other nations of his choosing.

I recently switched energy supplier from SSE to Octopus as it offers an attractive tariff for homes like mine that use heat pumps. It seems the readings used by Octopus when you opened your account differed from those submitted to SSE when you left it. SSE said it needed Octopus to agree with its meter readings before it could move on. Tell me about your experience by emailing sally@dailymail.co.ukThe complaints staff then sent the details to the bank’s dormant account recovery department. But it shouldn’t be this difficult to reawaken a dormant account.

A new planning application will be submitted for the Rotunda Hospital which, if successful, could remove the need to relocate the hospital. An Coimisiún Pleanála refused planning permission last month for a new €100m critical care wing following successful objections from conservation groups. It rejected the plan partly because Government policy still supports relocating the Rotunda to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown — a proposal first announced in 2015. However, the proximity of the Rotunda to the Mater enables the existing safe care pathways. This will now be further augmented by the critical care developments at the Rotunda site.

An Aussie mum who underwent a botched 'mummy makeover' in Thailand has urged others to think twice before going under the knife overseas. 'My first trip was amazing, the surgeon was good - the surgery went well,' Tegan said in a TikTok video recounting her experience. As a result, Tegan returned to Bangkok in January to get the issues fixed - but she claims the surgeon failed to carry out the second, corrective tummy tuck. The day after the surgery, Tegan was surprised to discover she wasn't in much pain, in stark contrast to the 'really painful' recovery from the first tummy tuck. Tegan said she was also looking at undergoing the procedure in Australia, where a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty can cost up to $33,000.
