Teenaged Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced a breathtaking display of power hitting on Friday, smashing the second-fastest hundred in the history of the Under-19 World Cup and reshaping the record books. The 14-year-old opener reached his century in only 55 balls against England in the U-19 World Cup final in Harare, Zimbabwe and went on to hammer 175 off just 80 deliveries, a knock that will be spoken of long after this edition concludes. He reached the milestone in 71 balls, comfortably bettering the previous record of 98 balls set by England’s Ben Mayes earlier in the tournament. Australian Will Malajczuk still holds the record for the quickest U19 World Cup hundred with a 51-ball effort against Japan, but the young Indian came close. On a day when England’s bowlers looked short of answers, Sooryavanshi started briskly and only accelerated further.

US President Donald Trump has once again shared his claims of election fraud in the 2020 election, and then crossed a far darker line by sharing a video on his Truth Social platform that depicts former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys. Trump has never accepted his defeat in the 2020 election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. The video Trump shared Thursday followed that familiar pattern for most of its runtime. It includes charts, headlines and claims questioning Biden’s win in Pennsylvania, a state Trump narrowly lost. Another added, “Donald Trump, the most openly racist President since slavery was abolished, just shared a video of Michelle & Barack Obama as APES.

Netflix film Ghooskhor Pandat does not aim to demean any caste or community, filmmaker Neeraj Panday said on Friday, hours after the title of the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer movie sparked uproar. “Our film is a fictional cop drama, and the term ‘Pandat’ is used simply as a colloquial name for a fictional character,” the 52-year-old filmmaker wrote. “The story focuses on an individual's actions and choices and does not comment on or represent any caste, religion, or community,” Pandey explained. This film, like my earlier work, has been created with sincere intent and solely to entertain audiences,” he further said, while also taking into account the film’s title hurting audience sentiments. The Central Government should immediately impose a ban on such a caste-indicating film 'Ghooskhor Pandit'; this is the demand of the B.S.P.

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has moved the Bombay High Court against the government’s 'Sahyog' portal, calling it an "unconstitutional and unreasonable" assault on freedom of speech, as it allows officials to take down social media content. The comedian, in his petition filed on Wednesday, has primarily challenged the IT rules, which were amended in October 2025, along with the Sahyog portal. The portal aims to bring together all authorised agencies and intermediaries on one platform to ensure immediate action against the unlawful online information. The plea emphasised that such powers "amount to an unconstitutional and unreasonable restriction on the freedom of speech". Kamra asserted that it effectively gives thousands of government officers at the Centre and states power that is left unchecked.
