A senior Jaish-e-Mohammed commander claimed Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir framed Pakistan’s response to India’s Operation Sindoor as a religious war. The remarks, made in PoK, have renewed concerns over links between Pakistan’s leadership and terror groups. Background: Operation Sindoor and India’s ResponseIndia’s counter-terror action, Operation Sindoor, was launched in May 2025 following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam in April that left 26 people dead. The Indian government described the operation as a focused and proportionate response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure across the border. As militant leaders continue to issue inflammatory statements, the remarks from Rawalkot have further intensified scrutiny of Pakistan’s role in enabling extremist groups and its implications for regional stability.

This is because the evolution of the bhadralok as a specific social construct was contingent upon a peculiar and complex encounter between colonialism on the one hand and caste, class, education and imperial employment on the other. The bhadralok’s canvas of interest and accomplishment may have been wide; indeed, Bengal’s renaissance would not have been possible otherwise. Even after Independence, the bhadralok banded together to monopolise the, albeit diminishing, crumbs of privilege. Numbers, rather than sophistication and social privilege, now hold the key to power. What ought to be attempted instead is the democratisation of the bhadralok’s ideals: reform, intellectual fervour, liberalism, nationalism without shrillness, reason and modernity.

Also, mental health services have been added to the package of services under comprehensive primary health care provided at these centres. Moreover, Tele MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) is a 24x7, free initiative in India providing mental health support via toll-free helplines 14416 or 1-800-891-4416. While this rise is often cited as progress, it remains shockingly low in context, says Neha Kirpal, co-founder of Amaha and founding cohort member of the India Mental Health Alliance (IMHA), a network of stakeholders working on mental health issues.
