Not long ago, a table for one invited awkward glances and quiet pity, much like solo travel plans. Indians, led by millennials and Gen Zs, are increasingly stepping out alone — for meals, travel and leisure — turning solitude into a statement of choice rather than loneliness. Gupta said he enjoys going out alone for food, travel or quiet recreation, without broadcasting it on social media. "Perceptions around solo travel have changed significantly. The momentum is even stronger for vacation rental platform Airbnb, which recorded an impressive 35 per cent jump in solo travel bookings in India during the first half of 2025.

Lang was summoned to appear at the French Foreign Ministry, which oversees the Arab World Institute, on Sunday, but he submitted his resignation. The Foreign Ministry confirmed his resignation on Saturday evening. The financial prosecutors' office said it had opened an investigation into Lang and his daughter, Caroline, over alleged "aggravated tax fraud laundering." Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has "taken note" of Lang's resignation and began the process to look for his successor, the foreign ministry said.

The Congress on Sunday hit out at the BJP over a purported video posted on the X handle of the ruling party's Assam unit, claiming it shows the "targeted point-blank murder of minorities" and the judiciary must act with no leniency shown in the matter. The now-deleted video showed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma purportedly taking aim with a rifle and firing a shot at two people – one wearing a skull cap and the other with a beard, with "point-blank shot" as the caption. "An official BJP handle posted a video showing the targeted, 'point-blank' murder of minorities. This is nothing but a call to genocide - a dream this fascist regime has harboured for decades," Venugopal said on X. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said that deleting the video, which showed Assam Chief Minister Sarma "shooting Muslim men" with the caption “point-blank shot”, was not enough.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday (February 7, 2026) said the Partition of India took place because the “Hindu bhav” (sentiment) was forgotten. Their stories show that while some households continue to hold on to traditional roles, others are witnessing a genuine transformation. This early example shaped her expectations of marriage, and she feels fortunate that her husband mirrors that same mindset. Chef Nayana Afroz, now in her 50s, admits that her own father rarely participated in household work, but her husband grew up differently. While traditional expectations still exist in many homes, stories from women and men across ages show a clear trend: fathers today are increasingly willing to share parental and household responsibilities. Whether shaped by upbringing, circumstance or conscious effort, the modern Indian father is redefining what family roles can look like.
