It also pledged EGP 2bn to the credit risk guarantee company to cover part of the risks associated with financing SMEs. In addition, the CBE said that banks operating in the Egyptian market pumped financing worth EGP 48.3bn to about 436,900 customers within the framework of the real estate financing initiative for low and middle-income individuals until the end of September 2022. CAIRO - 5 January 2023: Egypt announces that the second phase of trainings held for pharmacists to rationalize the use of antibiotics has begun, and will last for two weeks, starting from January 1. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced on Tuesday evening that its net international reserves increased to $34.003bn in December 2022, compared to $33.532bn in November 2022, a growth of about $468m. It is the largest increase in Egypt’s international reserves since August. It is also the fourth consecutive increase in reserves, bringing the total rise to $860m from September to December. According to the Central Bank’s website, the value of gold listed in its international reserves increased to $7.326bn, compared to $7.078bn in November 2022, an increase of $248m. Egypt’s foreign reserves consist of a basket of major international currencies, including the US dollar, the euro, the pound sterling, the Japanese yen, and the Chinese yuan.

CAIRO - 4 January 2023: Egypt's Population has reached on Sunday 104.395 million people inside the country, according to what was announced by the population clock of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), which is linked to the birth and death registration database at the Ministry of Health and Population. Last year, the population had reached (102.812 million people) on January 1st, 2022, and thus a population increase (the difference between the number of births and deaths) of 1.583 million people has been achieved during the period from 1/1/2022 to 1/1/2023 days. The slight increase in the number of births during the year 2022 compared to the year 2021, is evident from the development of the numbers of natural increase during the period (2018-2022). (249) births per hour, i.e. (4.15) births per minute, which means one birth every (14.4 seconds).
