Egypt is the second stop of Dr. Biden's week-long tour, which includes four countries in the region and began in Jordan. “With her visit to the Middle East and North Africa, the first lady will continue to build on her work to empower young people, and reaffirm our commitment to strengthen our partnerships and advance our shared priorities in the region,” her Spokesperson Vanessa Valdivia told AP in an e-mail. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Ministry of Culture are set to develop an action plan to promote Egypt’s tourism globally, incorporating an entertainment aspect as well. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, and Minister of Culture, Nevine al-Kilany, met at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the New Administrative Capital. The ministers discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two ministries and discussed the development of a joint action plan to promote cultural tourism with an entertainment dimension locally and internationally, a joint statement from the two ministries said. CAIRO – 1 June 2023: The Ministry of Social Solidarity revealed Wednesday a project to train women in Menya, Qena, and Luxor governorates on business management, and finance their micro enterprises. The value of the project is LE55,999,745, and it includes providing technical support, follow-up, supervision on the projects' implementation, and securing a headquarters for each of the enterprises. The beneficiaries will be women enrolled in the monetary subsidies programme Takaful w Karama so as 25,000 will be trained on business management, 2,250 on livestock farming, and 300 on handicrafts. Moreover, 8,750 will be micro-financed, and 1,000 livestock enterprises will be granted insurance. Further, 66 instructors will be qualified to deliver the training, and 110 workers will be prepared to carry out follow-up on the progress of the projects.

One of the most important steps is that the Egyptian state is adhering to strict application of environmental sustainability standards in all its projects and sectors. In this regard, the economic and social development plan reflects the keenness to monitor all projects and initiatives of the various awarding bodies that have an environmental impact and support sustainable green growth, with the aim of raising the percentage of investments directed to the green economy from its current level, from 30% to about 40% of the total public investment in 2023/2024, and up to 50% by 2024/2025. The plan also includes - according to Al-Saeed - the launch of initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness, including "Beautiful Egypt" and "Get Ready for Green", and the tendency to plant 1.5 million trees in light of the presidential initiative. Water desalination projects in the coasts of Egypt, South Sinai and the Red Sea with capacities ranging between 30,000 and 130,000 cubic meters per day, triple sewage treatment plants in Matrouh and other projects carried out by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and New Urban Communities.

CAIRO - 31 May 2023: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi ratified on Wednesday an amendment to the Egyptian nationality law, granting naturalized women the right to pass the nationality down to their minor children. 28 of 2023 amended some provisions of Law No. 26 of 1975 on the Egyptian nationality to be more in line with the constitution, international law, and women’s rights. A mother who was naturalized after being born in Egypt or who originally comes from an Arab speaking country or one with a Muslim majority may now give the Egyptian nationality to her minor kids. In the early 2000s, Egypt allowed the children of Egyptian women and foreign men to carry the nationality.
