When it comes to farms, Bonnefield said, it owns 114 across Ontario, including the four London-area ones. Ryan Parker is a partner in the agriculture division of Valco Consultants, a real estate appraisal firm in London. Parker said it might explain why a growing number of farmers are willing to sell to institutional investors like Bonnefield.

A year ago, the Climate Emergency Unit (CEU, with which I work) teamed up with Simon Fraser University’s Community-Engaged Research Initiative (SFU CERi) to investigate the CBC’s climate reporting. As Quiet Alarm notes, the CBC has committed to strengthening its climate reporting and employs some journalists with a keen understanding of the crisis. Ideally, a national climate emergency unit within the CBC could feed daily content to the flagship shows. Is there enough news for a daily climate report?

I call an appliance repair company which for $79 will send a man to come out and troubleshoot. A pleasant Russian fellow, Vladimir, comes to the door, very professional. But we all know it’s not the money, it is the pride you take in figuring it out by yourself. I am big fan of doing things and going to meetings, in particular the ones where I am pretty sure it is a total waste of time. More than a friend, he has worked for me a few times, and I admire his diligence and work ethic.
