Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch for parts of eastern Ontario today. Tornado watches are issued when forecasters see weather conditions that have the potential to produce tornadoes. Environment Canada says strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible, while the threat of tornadoes should end by late afternoon. Severe thunderstorm warnings have also been issued for Smiths Falls, Perth, Silver Lake Provincial Park and Lanark County. Emergency Management Ontario recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.

The Dallas Stars are bringing back forward Ty Dellandrea on a one-year contract, the team announced on Thursday. Dallas retained negotiating rights for Dellandrea after offering the restricted free agent a qualifying offer on June 30. Dellandrea has played 109 regular season NHL games over parts of three seasons in Dallas, posting 33 points (12 goals, 21 assists). Leaders of a Hollywood’s actors union voted Thursday to join screenwriters in the first joint strike in more than six decades, shutting down production across the entertainment industry after talks for a new contract with studios and streaming services broke down. Union leaders said at a news conference that they voted unanimously for a strike to begin at midnight. Outside Netflix’s Hollywood offices, picketing screenwriters chanted “Pay Your Actors!” immediately after the strike was announced. The lawyer dealing with the class action has said the number of victims might well exceed 200. Police said, based on the investigation to date, they expected as many as 200 victims to come forward to make statements. “They revolve around the same set of allegations,” he said Wednesday of the RCMP investigation and the 2019 class action. At this point, Dull, estimates he has talked to more than 200 men who spent time at the centre, who have stories of sexual assault.

The 60-something-year-olds are the co-chief executives of Gulf & Fraser, a B.C.-based credit union founded, once upon a time, by commercial fishermen. The numbers guy joined the credit union as chief financial officer in the mid-1990s, a few years after the sales guy came aboard as a management trainee. At the time, the credit union had two branches, and about 60 employees, and just over $200 million in assets under administration. But he went along with his co-equals gut instinct, and the new hire emerged as a perennial top performer with the credit union. Back in the Caribbean, the credit union director with the famous kid was reflecting on his most prized, work-related experiment.

Delta Air Lines soared to a record quarterly profit of more than $1.8 billion as summer vacationers packed planes, especially to international destinations, and the airline enjoyed a tailwind from falling fuel prices. Delta officials said strong demand for tickets has continued into the July-through-September quarter, when it expects revenue similar to the record second quarter. “That’s our bread and butter.”In the second quarter, Delta’s revenue from sales of premium seats and services rose 25% — better than the 18% gain in the main cabin. “You have to respect your resource capabilities, including those things you don’t control such as air traffic control.”Delta’s profit compared with earnings of $735 million in the second quarter of 2022. The quarter broke Delta’s previous record for net income, set in the second quarter of 2016.

There's only been four positive samples of potato wart found in the Prince County field out of just under 50,000 samples, according to the P.E.I. Potato Board. Potato Board, said only four positive samples have been found in the field out of nearly 50,000 samples taken since 2021. He said all the positive samples were found in fields with CFIA restrictions in place, and in close proximity to each other.

However, the changes over the last few years aren’t the only factors at play when it comes to listing Cake and Loaf, according to its co-founders. But it’s been a balance for Rudderham and Miller, who have spent most of their adult lives as entrepreneurs. The pair felt they weren’t needed there anymore as staff are running the shop “without a hitch now,” noted Miller. The new owner will need to be someone who shares the same ethos as the pair, said Miller.

Qualcomm plans to open its first satellite facility in Tijuana this fall, with a focus on engineering for internal research and development projects. Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda and Qualcomm Chief Executive Cristiano Amon announced the new facility. Avila Olmeda said in a statement that Qualcomm has the support of the government for its investment in Baja. Earlier this month, the company announced it was cutting more than 400 positions at its San Diego headquarters. The company is still among the region’s largest private employers, however, with 12,000 workers in San Diego.

Parents should be consulted on social transitioning for under-16s, a Canadian province has decided. New Brunswick has rolled back controversial legislation that forced schools to allow students under the age of 16 to officially self-ID their gender without parental permission. In May, a poll for think tank SecondStreet.org found that 57 per cent of Canadians surveyed agreed schools should tell parents if their child wished to change gender or pronouns. The school said it has “socially transitioned” her daughter in line with its Equality, Inclusion and Diversity policy. A Bayswater spokeswoman said: “Parents tell us that when they try to engage constructively with schools, it is often implied that they are a risk to their own children.”
