But it’s their burps that make them special, says Dave Braden, a small beef farmer in Puslinch, Ont., between Hamilton and Guelph. "I was extremely frustrated to see that … even though the CPP benefit had only increased by about $35, the province had the audacity to claw it back," he said. Every January, the CPP benefit increases or decreases based on inflation. When the province is determining assistance benefits, it factors in other income, including the CPP disability benefit. About 10 per cent of those on provincial disability benefits also receive CPP benefits, said the province's spokesperson. But Yarush says the moral thing for the NDP government to do would be to stop clawing back the CPP increase.

Bellart High School of the Arts students launched their second annual art exhibition at the TAP Creativity Center in downtown London, Ontario, installing and marketing the exhibition themselves. Emily Hillman, a student at Bellart University, said the Chrysalis-themed display is a great way for students to gain recognition. Conservative and NDP members of the joint committee on medical assistance in dying (MAID) say they want an indefinite pause on the pending expansion of MAID eligibility to include cases of mental illness. "What I think we need to be led by is ... compassion," said Kutcher, a psychiatrist who pushed for MAID to include mental illness. "We certainly recognize that there is equivalency between physical suffering and mental suffering," Holland said. The province has stated that mental illness is "not considered to be an illness" for the purposes of MAID. Health Minister Mark Holland has not ruled out another delay in opening MAID to people with mental illness.
