Gono Forum General Secretary Mizanur Rahman on Friday said that doctors have diagnosed Kamal with pneumonia. “As the drafter of the Constitution and a VIP, he was not allowed to enter through the VIP gate. He endured significant physical strain and attended the funeral prayers with the public despite his illness,” Mizanur said. Earlier, on Sept 9, Kamal was hospitalised due to age-related complications and other health issues.

Two drug dealers were arrested with 420 pieces of yaba in the Konabari (College Gate) area of Gazipur City Corporation. Members of a joint force arrested them during a checkpoint operation on the Dhaka–Tangail highway on Friday. The arrested men are Anwar Hossain, 38, son of Abdul Mannan of Nalipara village in Kaliakair upazila, and Abdul Majid, 40, son of Mujibur Rahman from Dewaliabari area under Konabari Police Station. During the search, the joint force recovered 420 yaba tablets, Tk 1,57,950 in cash from drug sales, six mobile phones and two tablets from their possession. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Konabari Police Station under Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), Khandaker Jalal Uddin Mahmud, said that a case has been filed against the arrested men under the Narcotics Control Act.

The deceased was identified as Md Alamgir, son of late Kabir Ahmed and a resident of Ward No. Local people found his body beside the railway track in the West Amirabad area of Amirabad Union around 9:00 am and informed the authorities. Assistant Station Master of Lohagara Railway Station Didarul Islam said that both the Cox's Bazar Express and the Probal Express trains passed through the station this morning, and one of the trains is suspected to have hit the victim. Police were informed of the incident and necessary steps are being taken, he added.

Passengers of multiple Biman Bangladesh flights faced severe hardship at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong after their flights were diverted due to dense fog. Frustration over the lack of food for more than six hours sparked protests, during which some airport chairs were vandalized. Airport sources said that between 3 and 4am on Friday, three flights from Delhi, Muscat, and Kuwait landed at Shah Amanat. Despite the long wait, no food was provided, and the flights eventually returned to Dhaka in the morning and afternoon. Shah Amanat International Airport’s Public Relations Officer, Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, said the passengers became impatient due to the long wait and absence of food.

A total of 63 more people were hospitalized with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, with no deaths reported during the period. The information was disclosed in a dengue-related press release issued today (Friday) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). During the same period, 71 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. With this, a total of 268 patients have been discharged so far this year. So far this year, 139 people have been infected with dengue.
