The state has moved to appeal the High Court’s decision to ban battery-powered rickshaws from the Dhaka metropolitan area. The home secretary, local government secretary, police chief, DMP commissioner, and the authorities of the two Dhaka city corporations were instructed to implement the decision. The rickshaw drivers took to the streets in Dayaganj the following day to demand the ban be withdrawn. Although these rickshaws have been widely used in rural and urban areas, their increasing numbers in Dhaka have caused more problems, including traffic congestion. Earlier this year, during the Awami League government's tenure, an initiative to ban battery-powered rickshaws was introduced but was later dropped due to resistance from drivers.

Thanksgiving is the one time each year when Americans and others come together with family and friends to enjoy each other and be thankful for all that we have. Time will tell, but at least Americans know there is some sense and sensibility within the hallowed halls of the U.S.Senate. And speaking of antisemites, I was so thankful to see the last vestiges of Pat McCarran removed from the airport as the name of Sen. Harry Reid literally lit up the landscape at the entrance to the Harry Reid International Airport. This was a long overdue defeat of evil by the good people of Southern Nevada who made the decision. And every tourist and every resident going into and out of Reid International Airport, if they ask, will understand the difference.
