BAGERHAT, Jan 2, 2026 (BSS) - A Quran recitation, discussion and prayer meeting were held in Bagerhat today, seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed soul of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The programmes were organised by BNP and its associate bodies, with Bagerhat Ward-6 BNP President Farukuzzaman presiding over the prayer meeting. Municipal BNP President Sheikh Shahed Ali Robi, Municipal Jubo Dal Convener Sumon Paik, Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Abul Hasan and Ward BNP General Secretary Haider Ali, among others, were present. DHAKA, Jan 2, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 63 more people were hospitalised with dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, with no deaths reported during the period. The information was disclosed in a dengue-related press release issued today (Friday) by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). During the same period, 71 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals. With this, a total of 268 patients have been discharged so far this year. So far this year, 139 people have been infected with dengue.
