Buenos Aires is now a more modern, friendlier city, one which makes its residents’ everyday life easier. Soon, we will be able to enjoy a new milestone in this transformation: the Centro de Trasbordo Pacífico (Pacífico Commuting Center), with facilities spanning 1,000 meters along Santa Fe Avenue. Pacífico is a key connection axis between the city’s downtown and the suburban areas of the Buenos Aires province.

If you had to go somewhere in the City of Buenos Aires today, you probably noticed that the streets, especially in the downtown neighborhoods close to Plaza de Mayo, are absolute chaos. Teachers will not attend school today and join the march, also demanding collective bargaining talks be reopened and better working conditions. The World Trade Organization (WTO) categorizes China as a “non-market economy,” (NME) but China has argued that should expire in December 2016 — hence Kaufmann Brea’s plea. Aside from fears on China obtaining recognition of MES by the Argentine government, there are also concerns within the declining sector. This week, the INDEC national statistics agency revealed the industrial sector plunged by 7.9 percent in July, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline and the worst drop in 14 years. This would imply further danger to an Argentine industry that would struggle to compete with cheaper imports.

At first, President Mauricio Macri was accused of holding his cards too close to his chest when it came to the question of whether he preferred Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. And then — bam!— the real estate agent forces you to fork over two-months’ commission for the privilege of paying rent for 24 months, which is the usual length of a rental contract. A court in the City of Buenos Aires nullified a resolution from the College of Real Estate Brokers of the City of Buenos Aires (Cuciba), the government agency that regulates real estate in the capital, that allowed agencies to charge up to two months’ commission on rental contracts. According to a survey carried out by Reporte Inmobiliario, a sector consultancy, rental contracts for one bedroom apartments increased by 32 percent compared to last year, while prices for two bedrooms soared 37.5 percent. The judge ordered the measure because even though Cuciba is theoretically an entity tasked with controlling real estate companies, its board is comprised by, you guessed it, members of the city’s largest agencies.

As hundreds of thousands of protesters flooded the streets of Caracas, Venezuela to demonstrate in favor of a recall referendum to oust President Nicolás Maduro were echoed today, on a much smaller scale, outside the Venezuelan Embassy in Buenos Aires. After five months in the country, the conflict-ridden ride-sharing app Uber has released its first official figures, stating that it has “more than” 1,000 drivers and 29,000 users. Buenos Aires Governor María Eugenia Vidal is basically living in poverty. Her assets add up to AR$740,000, which is 0.67 percent of what Macri himself declared that he was worth in 2015. When Vidal’s sworn statements were made public today it was shocking just how little the governor of Argentina’s largest and most populous province actually owns. He’s worth even less than she is at a paltry AR$550,000, according to the sworn statements. Earlier this year, Vidal signed a law that forces the governor, her deputy and ministers, among others, to publish their sworn statements online.
