Share Comment on this story CommentThe United Nations, the World Bank, U.S. President Joe Biden — everyone seems to be talking about the Global South these days. Australia and New Zealand, both in the southern hemisphere, are not in the Global South. For the U.N., Global South is something of a shortcut to refer to developing countries in general, Traeger said. AdvertisementThe term Global South first appeared in the 1960s, but took time to gain traction. “There is every danger that the Global South will end up becoming a weapon in the hands of revisionist states, like China, who would want to use the voice of the Global South to promote their great power interests,” says Happymon Jacob.

Estimates of how far wine output has fallen vary, from a roughly 20% drop according to the Agriculture Ministry's Kilani Belhaj, to a reduction of 40-50% according to Vineyard Producers' Syndicate head Salim Chaouch. Winemakers in France and elsewhere in southern Europe have also warned of lower wine output this year due to the heat. "Climate change has impacted both the quantity and quality of production, with a broad effect on the sector. In ancient times Tunisia was a major wine producer under the Carthaginian and Roman empires and commercial-scale output began again under French colonialism, though it has not become a significant exporter. The grapes are picked early in the morning and driven to a modern processing facility at Takelsa in central Tunisia to be turned into wine.

Advanced Intelligent Automation (IA) virtual agents shift the burden of repetitive, rules-based queries and work away from human agents. They will free up human agents’ time to focus on higher-value conversations that impact customer relationships and brand loyalty, something South Africans are particularly good at. And while the answers or actions that the latest chatbots can provide are impressive, they don’t perform like human agents,” he says. Human agents can act as both assistants and advisors to customers. Virtual agents are increasingly being used to automate the high volume, time-urgent, and repetitive conversations that human agents are still being forced to have.

Joshua Harris, US Deputy Under Secretary of State for North Africa, is visiting Morocco to hold several meetings with senior Moroccan officials, with the question of Western Sahara as one of the important issues to be discussed. Subsequently, Joe Biden's current administration has maintained the same line and also strongly supports the work for dialogue between all parties involved led by Staffan de Mistura, the UN secretary general's personal envoy for Western Sahara. On this issue, the American giant supported the Moroccan kingdom's proposal for Western Sahara under Donald Trump's presidency. Morocco considers Western Sahara a part of its southern territory and proposes a formula of broad autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty to settle the Saharawi dispute and develop the territory to the maximum. Under this formula, the Saharawis would have a great capacity for self-government, reserving security and foreign policy powers for the Moroccan state.

Frontex, the EU border agency has revealed that migrant arrivals are expected to increase in the upcoming years with economic reasons being the main push factor. For 2023 and 2024, Frontex anticipates migration activity along the eastern and central Mediterranean routes, as these two routes are more exposed to migration flows to the EU external borders. Other nationalities that were the most detected for illegal border crossings include Pakistanis, Indians, Tunisians, Ukrainians, Nigerians, Congolese and Moroccans. The report further reveals that new arrivals at border crossings were mainly men (171,157) compared to women (12,318). There are several factors that impact the low number of effective returns in 2022, but the war in Ukraine is the leading one, as the report by Frontex reveals.
