‘President of Bharat’ on G20 invite triggers row; govt. sources dismiss talk of name change in upcoming Parl. session as ‘rubbish’The term “President of Bharat” has been used for the first time in an official invite for a banquet hosted by the President for the dignitaries attending the G20 summit, replacing the traditional “President of India”. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan shared a G20 dinner invitation on on X (formerly Twitter) from President Murmu which described her position as “President of Bharat”. Government sources told The Hindu that all talk of a formal action in the upcoming session of Parliament to change the name of India was “rubbish”.
