Ruby Gwendolyn “Gwen” Burton, 92, of Clay, passed away on March 5, 2024. Gwen was born on April 19, 1931, to Lacy Bob and Grace Wood in Jefferson County, AL. She met Ted Burton at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, and they married on January 28, 1950, during their senior year. She is survived by her husband, Ted; two sons, Robert (Connie) Burton and Larry (Sharon) Burton; four grandchildren, Jimmy (Heather) Burton, April (Scott) Weed, Daniel (Meg) Burton, and Matthew Burton; and several great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be held on March 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Atonement Garden section at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
