As Penn State head coach Mike Gambino watched the Big Ten tournament semifinal between Nebraska and Indiana, he sent a text to Travis Luensmann asking one question. 8-seed Nittany Lions fell to the Nebraska Cornhuskers 2-1 in the Big Ten baseball tournament championship. He finished his outing with six strikeouts and just one earned run in seven innings pitched. He started PSU’s first tournament game against Illinois, and pitched four innings, allowed one earned run and struck out seven in an 8-4 win. He finished the season with a 7-2 record in 16 starts and a 4.44 earned run average.
