A school kitchen worker has raised thousands of pounds for a charity close to her heart by taking part in a stock car race. The 44-year-old and her fellow participants managed to raise £8,377.15 for Cancer Research UK. Marie Mayes at the track with the stock car she used on the day. Picture submittedMrs Mayes said: “We have done a few of these before for charity but we really wanted to do this for Cancer Research this time round as a friend of ours has just been through cancer. It affects so many people.”All of the racers had to source stock cars to take part, with Mrs Mayes, from North Lopham, borrowing her husband’s car for the event.
