Senior Jatiya Party leader Shameem Haider Patwary hopes the government will take no "wrong steps" in the wake of the "misguided demands" calling for a ban on the party. He said the demand to ban the party is “baseless”, as it has done nothing that would justify Jatiya Party or its activities being prohibited. He also called on party members to be ready to respond if such an act appears. Speaking with several media outlets at the Jatiya Party's Central Office auditorium on Sunday evening, the party’s secretary general said: "Our party office was set on fire on Saturday. "Right now, many are calling for the Jatiya Party to be banned.
