Despite being excited about his participation in the event, conditions forced Jake and his teammate Matt to pull out from the competition. Following his withdrawal, the former Dancing On Ice contestant was rushed to hospital after an apparent arm injury. The Yukon1000 Instagram account also posted a behind-the-scenes video of the pair as they waited at the hospital.
