(Bangkok Post file photo)Up to 29 participating and observing nations will take part in this year's 36th annual Cobra Gold exercise co-hosted by Thailand and the United States from Feb 14-24. Cobra Gold is the largest multilateral military exercise in Asia. This year’s Cobra Gold will consist of three primary events: a staff exercise which includes a senior leader seminar, humanitarian civic assistance projects in Thai communities, and a field training exercise that includes a variety of training events to strengthen regional relationships and enhance interoperability. There will be up to 29 nations either directly participating in or observing Cobra Gold 2017, with approximately 3,600 US personnel directly participating in the various events, both ashore and afloat.
