South Canterbury residents spot several sharks


Several sevengill sharks have been sighted on the east coast of the South Island this summer. South Cantabrians are doing their bit to report shark sightings in the region as a scientific study carries on into summer. Project leader Rob Lewis said there have been four shark sightings logged near Timaru - two sevengill sharks, one carpet shark and one rig shark. In total, more than 13 shark sightings have been logged over the summer, with sightings ranging from Dunedin to Timaru. "However, the decent number of sevengill sightings we've been receiving is a positive sign.
