HCM CITY — Sustainable development will be the foundation for restructuring and orienting its businesses, Novaland Investment Group Corporation told shareholders at its annual general meeting on Thursday. In 2024-25 it plans to develop two urban projects in HCM City and one satellite urban project in its vicinity.

The Decree states the extension of the tax payment deadline applies to amounts arising in the tax period of June, July, August and September this year for automobiles manufactured or assembled in Việt Nam. The extension period is from the end of the deadline for paying excise tax in accordance with the law on tax administration to the end of November 20 this year. In case the taxpayer makes an additional declaration of the tax declaration dossier of the extended tax period, leading to an increase in the payable amount and sending it to the tax office before the extended payment time limit expires, the extended amount includes additional tax payable due to additional declarations. In case taxpayers are eligible for an extension to declare and submit excise tax declarations in accordance with current law, they may delay the payment of the payable excise tax amount arising on the excise tax return declared during the extended period. In case an enterprise has branches and affiliated units, which declares excise tax separately from the tax agency directly managing the branch or affiliated unit, branches and affiliated units are also subject to the extension of special consumption tax payment.

HÀ NỘI — The Electricity Vietnam Group (EVN) on Thursday announced that the power supply will basically meet the demand in the northern region from Friday thanks to the increasing water level at hydropower plants’ reservoirs. In addition, technical problems at some thermopower plants have been fixed, allowing them to resume their operations. Drastic measures by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and relevant agencies have helped improve the power supply in the regions that suffered shortages earlier this month. EVN warned that as the power system in the region doesn't have backup capacity, difficult situations may still occur in the future. According to the National Load Dispatch Centre, on June 21, the system’s peak capacity continued to increase to over 41,514 MW, and the total system load reached 852.3 million kWh, down 4.3 million kWh compared to the previous day.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) agreed on a common need to cement the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the field of national defence and security and to promote substantive cooperation and technology transfer in the defence industry. Việt Nam would also welcome South Korean businesses to focus on transferring source technology to Việt Nam, Thưởng said. The two sides agreed to continue working closely to effectively implement the RoK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) support for Việt Nam, Thưởng said. The RoK Government would actively support the enhancement of security and order at sea in Việt Nam based on the Memorandum of Understanding on maritime security signed this time, Yoon said. He added the RoK would expand defence technology cooperation with Việt Nam based on the political trust between the two countries that had been increasingly consolidated.

According to General Director of the Việt Nam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) Cao Hữu Hiếu, the group has predicted its difficulties of this year since 2022. For yarn production, the difficulties include low demand for yarn in the market, and more competition in the price of yarn after China officially reopened. Meanwhile, "the garment industry has had only small orders with a few thousand products, and processing price per unit of the garment products has dropped sharply. The draw results are considered to be favourable for the Vietnamese side as the RoK, Nepal, and hosts Mongolia have lower rankings than Vietnam. The RoK were the runners-up at the 1999 AFC Futsal Championship and are said to pose the most difficulties for the Vietnamese team. However, last year, the Vietnamese team led by coach Giustozzi Diego trounced the RoK 5-1 in the Asian futsal tournament.
