This market will resolve to "Down" if the official S&P 500 Index open price for S&P 500 (SPX) on February 27 is lower than the official S&P 500 Index closing price for SPX on the most recent prior trading day. If SPX does not trade at all during the regular session, the market will resolve 50-50. Inside the mystery meeting between Mamdani and TrumpNew York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani arrived at the White House Thursday with a game plan in mind and props in hand. During his last sit down with President Donald Trump in November, the two leaders ended their meeting by agreeing on at least one thing: “Let’s build stuff together.” Given the president’s nostalgia for construction and development in his beloved hometown, Mamdani brought visual elements to help make his case for the biggest federal investment in housing in 50 years, according to a person familiar with the meeting.

New York —Block, the company behind Square, Cash App and Afterpay, is cutting its staff by 40%. The cuts come as AI has reshaped jobs across the tech sector and is raising concerns about the future of the job market. Companies like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Verizon have all made sweeping cuts in the last year tangentially related to AI. Many of the companies that are cutting hordes of jobs – and blaming it on AI – had swelled in size during the pandemic years, when tech companies were meeting demand for online services. The cuts come amid rising concerns about how AI will impact the workforce as AI giants like Anthropic and OpenAI continue to push out new enterprise tools.

ABOARD AIR FORCE TWO — Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that while military strikes against Iran remain under consideration by President Donald Trump, there is “no chance” that such strikes would result in the United States becoming involved in a years-long, drawn-out war. He said Thursday that he still sees himself as a “skeptic of foreign military interventions,” a description he believes continues to apply to Trump. “I think we all prefer the diplomatic option,” Vance said. “But I think Donald Trump is an ‘America First’ president, and he pursues policies that work for the American people. Just because one president screwed up a military conflict doesn’t mean we can never engage in military conflict again.

“This week, FEMA released over $5 billion in recovery funding for projects, some dating back as far as 15 years — a significant win for states, local governments, and hospitals,” a FEMA spokesperson said. Trump and Noem have blamed Democrats for the budgetary impasse, which they say is hampering disaster response work and holding up relief. But the Disaster Relief Fund that FEMA uses to support disaster response and relief efforts is a separate pool of money appropriated by Congress and not affected by the current lapse in DHS funding, FEMA sources have told CNN. Noem’s department had already begun to ramp up the distribution of funds, announcing disaster aid for states like Georgia and Tennessee in recent weeks. During a House Appropriations hearing this month, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat, pressed a top Trump FEMA official about the backlog.

AdvertisementA trooper’s dashcam video shows McMahon accelerating away, then braking too late to avoid crashing into the back of a BMW. “Why were you driving all over 100 mph?” state police Detective Maxwell Robins asked McMahon after catching up to the wrecked Bentley, which can cost over $300,000. The driver of that third car happened to be wearing a WWE shirt, according to the police video. They also said it did not appear McMahon was trying to escape — though in the video the detective suggests otherwise. The trooper’s bodycam video also shows him asking McMahon whether he was looking at his phone when the crash happened.

While Indiana and Purdue is the rivalry in the state of Indiana, there might not be a better rivalry in the Big Ten in the last two decades than Purdue and Michigan State. #13 Michigan State 22-5 (12-4) at #8 Purdue 22-5 (12-4)Big Ten Tournament Double ByeMichigan State, Purdue, Nebraska, and Illinois are all not going to catch one-loss Michigan for the Big Ten Title. That means, a win against Michigan State on Thursday and it should be in control of its own destiny about getting the extra day off. Purdue and Michigan State also boast two of the most filled out front courts in the conference. Purdue and Michigan State are strong in similar places, and have weaknesses that could be harnessed by the other team.
