Institutions must shortly decide whether to accept the deals for 2026-28 negotiated by Jisc on behalf of the UK sector following nine months of talks. The newspaper released a list of the top 1,000 highest-achieving primary schools in the country as part of the Sunday Times Parent Power league table, a yearly schools ranking. The league table focuses on reading ability and Sats scores as a measure of primary schools that have "given pupils a strong foundation for further success", pointing to recent concerns about poor literacy levels. Overall, Berkshire makes quite a good showing on the list, with more than half of the 27 primary schools listed from the region finding their way into the top half of the ranking. Leading the pack for Berkshire is Lowbrook Academy in Maidenhead, which was crowned South East Primacy School of the Year and ranked second nationally.
